As you can tell we are now on a new version of the IPB forums. I wanted publically show my appreciation for Loib's great work here. A great deal of time, effort, thinking, care and pride went into this project. Don't take for granted the what Loib had to do to perform this conversion. :)

Many thanks to Loibisch for a job well done!

...now Loib can add his notes like "it was no big deal", "it was easy", etc. :P

lol, you DO notice that the f0s read a big fat "OFFLINE" in the title of each page? ;)

*switches on the forums*
Now you all can browse them

Oh, and it was no big deal ;)

You might find a few bugs in the skin here and there, those are being fixed as I find the time (mostly images).

Also I'll be adding full text search the next few days.

Sure... a bit premature - but I find accurate anticipation to be a good quality when fragging :uptosomething:

Ok, so now we're running Invision Power Boards version 1.3prefinal. The final will be out in a few days and upgrading will be a 5 minute job.

Version 1.3? Err, what did we have before?
Well, up to a few days ago we were running Invision 1.0.1 (yes, 1.0.1). So the upgrade process went like this: 1.0.1 --> 1.1 --> 1.2 --> 1.3
Of course our DB was a bit messy after that, and real xml capable browsers displayed some posts incorrectly (Mozilla) while browsers that didn't care about standards (*cough* IE *cough*) would've left me without clue that the DB was messed. Anyways, that's fixed now.

So, what's new?
You mean "what's still left of the old?", don't you. But seriously, new features include:

- Ability to attach files
- Ability to upload avatars
- quick reply
- full text search (much quicker, coming soon)
- proper calendar
- "My Assistant"
- more details on searches and other pages
- you can click on the number of replies in the topic overview to see who has posted in a thread
- active users in this board/forum/thread
- you can link to single posts more comfortably now
- in the background: MUCH easier to maintain...you can't even possibly imagine!

and many, many more.

That's the same skin, right?
No, it's a remake, the old skins were unusable after 3 upgrades. That's the process that took most of the time (the other thing was fixing the DB).

Couldn't you just have created a new skin?
Even more work, a completely new skin will come together with the new site in 2005... ;) j/k, it's actually 2006.

Hmm, well....how do I make the sig show?

I see we&#39;ve got HTML enabled on our f0 and I use the <EMBED> tag in order to have the flash sig showing.
Is there a special "code" to add flash without having HTML enabled?

Should work with the [img] tag

Try calling it directly, even that won&#39;t work...guess you uploaded a wrong file.

Also script generators are only allowed in sigs.

Actually that wasn&#39;t what I was trying to do. I was testing something else out to see what would happen.

I tried the img tag with a swf file and it also failed to work but i&#39;d have to try a swf file that I know works. Plus the file has to be less than 1mb in size and 200x200 in pixel dimensions.

Less than 200x200? :/

Nevermind, still nice work, Loib. ;)

OMG, think twice before you do it.

Tinny has a 35 Mb siggy. It&#39;s a short movie with sound. The movie shows Tinny playing accordion and singing &#39;Fån&#39;t ja en körv så hope ja i älva&#39; :P

You freak&#33; :D

No, it&#39;s about 95KB and it&#39;s 252 (W) and 140 (H).

No need to mess around with the settings though, Loib, because of 1 Flash sig. ;)

The requested URL /bluesboy/Forum/tinzig.swf was not found on this server. :O_o:

Also: I just left the default settings for now, and your flash sig is smalelr in size than some of the animated .gif sigs here...

You&#39;re too fast, Loib. ;)
It&#39;s supposed to be &#39;tinsig.swf&#39;, not tinzig.swf.

Btw, the size is totally fuXX0r3d when You check it directly from the link, because there&#39;s no size defined. (Full window)

There is a little problem with the mailing system as we speak. It&#39;s a bit confusing, since php mail() works fine, just not when called by invision...need to check into that more tomorrow...4:20 am again :P

I fixed it so it at least won&#39;t display an error, but be warned that no outgoing mails are sent by the board at this stage.

Hehe, yeah since the link opens up a full window so it looks like cr@p.
If You like to have a look at it anyways: http://hem.bredband.net/bluesboy/Forum/tinsig.swf

Of course, You can resize the window that opens up. ;)
